Job Title: Teaching Assistant
Are you looking for your next SEND teaching assistant role supporting MLD and ASC pupils?
Axcis are the leading SEND education recruitment agency in the UK and we are looking to recruit a teaching assistant for an SEND school in Beaminster, West Dorset.
The school is a specially built SEN school that supports local MLD and ASC pupils. The site benefits from a wide range of purpose built facilities such as a therapy pool, sensory rooms and classroom kitchens. It's a small site, with under 100 pupils on roll and caters exclusively for KS1 - 2 pupils who have an EHCP with ASC and MLD, some pupils will have other SEND in addition.
The school are looking to recruit a teaching assistant to join their KS2 class after the February half term break, the class has 7 pupils and you will be part of a team of three staff (2 TAs one teacher) who are long standing employees and know the class well. The school has been judged "good" by Ofsted and pupils in this school generally display excellent behaviours. The staff team are small and friendly and the school has a large car park.
The role is to start as soon as possible and it is a long term position. You'll be expected to work on a 1:1 and small group basis with pupils who have additional needs and require extra support in class. The role will be full time and school hours are 8.30am - 3:45pm Monday - Friday.
You must have experience working with children who have special educational needs in a school setting. The ideal candidate would have experience with PECS and Makaton as a number of the pupils are pre or non verbal as well as being enthusiastic, hard working, empathetic and compassionate
