Job Title: Teaching Assistant
Axcis have a vacancy for a teaching assistant at a well respected specialist school in Weston-Super-Mare working with a KS3 child with PMLD. Rated 'Outstanding' by Ofsted, this fantastic specialist school uses a range of innovative teaching methods to help their students make the most of their educational experience. The school is small but well resourced and has a fantastic atmosphere upon entering the grounds. Situated on the outskirts of Weston the school has beautiful grounds and is renowned as a centre of excellence. The role starts in January and is five days a week, full time and will go on till Easter at least. The position is general in-class support - you will need to use hoists and support the child with personal care. Experience of working with children with PMLD is essential and you will be expected to do personal care as well as manual handling. Many of the children are non verbal and the ability to use Makaton would be highly advantageous. If you are a caring, friendly and patient individual then this could be the perfect role for you. The hours are really great and are 8:30-3:30pm, we offer competitive rates of pay and a fantastic refer a friend scheme where you can earn up to £250 in highstreet vouchers. The ideal candidate will be an experienced SEND teaching assistant who has worked with children with PMLD in a special needs environment.
