Job Title: PRU Challenging Behavior
Axcis are pleased to be working with a pupil referral unit in Weston Super Mare who are looking to recruit someone experienced in working with children with social emotional and mental health needs. You will be working in small groups providing general in class support. You will need to be able to establish a good working relationship with the children very quickly. A lot of the students are at risk of exclusion and presents with very challenging behaviour so resilience is a must. The role is full time. The right candidate will be an inventive and positive TA who has a proactive attitude and will be calm and unfazed by difficult situations. You will be a positive role model and will have a chance to make a real difference to a child’s life. The pupil referral unit uses therapeutic approaches such as thrive to help pupils with social emotional and mental health needs to become confident and happy young people who are capable of regulating their emotions and contributing positively to society. The pupil referral unit is extremely welcoming, has a fantastic support structure and offers excellent resources for all staff that work there. A lot of these children have had difficult home lives and have been let down many times. You must have a calm nature and ability to de-escalate situations. We are looking for someone who is unfazed by challenging behaviour and those trained in Team Teach and MAPA would be at an advantage. These children need a positive role model and the right candidate will be resilient, empathetic and understanding. Axcis Education is a specialist recruiter for special needs education.
