Job Title: PMLD Teaching assistant
Axcis have an exciting opportunity for the right candidate starting in late November for a long term role as a SEN TA until the end of July 2022. We are seeking a PMLD teaching assistant to support children with profound needs in a wonderful, positive special school in Dartington. You will be working on a full time basis from Monday to Friday from 8:30 to 3:30, paying a rate of £75 - £80 per day.
The school is a total communication school teaching children from 3-19 years old. The school is in a rural location with beautiful landscapes which are captured in community projects at the school. The special school have amazing resources for every child to succeed and be included. The school follow the National Curriculum which is differentiated to the appropriate levels.
This role will be to work with either Year 1, KS2 or KS3
The ideal candidate must have experience working with children with complex needs and be respectful, positive and passionate. The children may have a variety of needs such as wheelchair users, cerebral palsy, learning difficulties, impairments or life limiting illnesses. You will not be the sole staff member working in personal care but you may need to assist feeding and manual handling. The curriculum is play based learning with sensory rooms, story telling and therapy support to adapt a positive and fun learning environment.
You will work with many teaching assistants in a small class of pupils. The school will support and welcome you with further training if required.
