Axcis are currently looking for a 1:1 Teaching assistant to work with a child in Year 5 child who is at risk of exclusion in a mainstream primary school in Mossley. This is a role to start ASAP and runs until the end of the academic year. Should the child successfully remain within the school then the role could then continue into the new academic year. The role is to support a young boy who has recently been displaying some challenging behavior to the extent that he is now at risk of being permanently excluded. Behavior strategies have failed and the school is looking for somebody with a fresh outlook to come in and support him. The young man is currently under diagnosis for ASD so experience in this area would be beneficial.
This is a small mainstream school set in a suburban area. The school prides itself on being inclusive to all needs and supports them in any way that they can. As such they have a high SEND intake supporting children in particular with ASD and challenging behavior. There is a large focus on interactive and engaging lessons, keeping the children active and fully involved in their own learning. The school is accessible by public transport by train and bus but has limited parking.
The school are looking for a candidate who is happy to work half days. You will have a proven track record of working with challenging children and working towards improving their behavior whether this is in any education setting, youth work, youth offenders or any other setting working with children In order to take this role you must have a DBS on the update service
