Job Title: EYFS Teaching Assistant – Complex Needs
JOB LOCATION:
Ashton-under-Lyne
Axcis are currently looking for a EYFS teaching assistant to work with a child with complex needs in a school in Tameside. This will be a fulltime role that will run until at least Easter and possibly longer depending on funding. The child will be moving up into reception from their own Nursery where an EHCP has already been put into place. Due to the child’s needs they will require interventions for their speech and language and fine motor skills as well as supporting the child with his social emotional and mental health. The child will require constant 1:1 supervision due to him being an active young man. There are also some concerns over the child’s increased physical behavior however they believe now a EHCP is now in place, with the right candidate this will become less frequent.
This is a large 2 form entry mainstream Primary school with class sizes that range from 30-33. Each class has at least 1 level 3 teaching assistant who covers their teachers PPA to ensure consistency within the classroom. The school also has a number of level 2 teaching assistants which float around the school on a rota making sure there is always 2 adults in the class at all times. In some cases where 1:1 support is involved this can be more. The school has gained a strong reputation for its inclusive policy and often SEND children outside their usual catchment area are granted places within the school. The school is located not far from the town center with regular transport links. Parking within the school grounds however is very limited.
The school are looking for a teaching assistant who has experience in supporting SEND children and a good knowledge of the EYFS curriculum. They are looking for a creative and proactive thinker who will be able to use any situation, during continuous provision, and use it to contextualise what you have worked on in the interventions. You will ideally have at least a level 2 teaching assistant qualification however relevant experience will also be accepted.
