Job Title: Special needs learning support assistant
Special needs learning support assistant - Bath - Immediate start Axcis education are looking for a learning support assistant with experience in working at a primary school to support a pupil with down syndrome on a short term basis to cover a sabbatical. This post is two mornings and 3 full days a week and the school are looking for someone to start asap with a view to end at Christmas but there is a possibility that this could go on longer. The primary school is located south of Bath in a small village with a lovely team to help deliver the best education possible to their students. They are looking for someone with experience in supporting downs syndrome or who has dealt with special needs but perhaps wants to gain some experience with downs syndrome. Due to the location of the school this would not be ideal for those on public transport although there is a bus that does go to Peasedown and the school is a 20 min walk or so from the bus stop. We are looking for someone who is approachable to younger children, can foster good relations with students and both manage behaviour but is imbued with lots of empathy to support the student in a safe and trusting environment. Although the pupil would be in the class with other children there will be times where she may need support 1:1 away from the class. Due to the urgency in which the school is needing someone, we are appealing to someone who currently has an enhanced DBS on the update service as we are likely to clear you for work far quicker than if a DBS needed to be applied for, although we do welcome applicants of the later circumstance.
