Job Title: SEND TA 1:1
A special school in Alcester is looking for a teaching assistant for a teenage boy with profound and multiple learning disability (PMLD) needs. This is a full time ongoing role that will be supporting the student through sensory stimulation. This role is a fantastic opportunity to encourage the student whilst working with their adapted curriculum to focus on basic skills.
In this special school, you will be working in a class of 5 other PMLD students. You are responsible for one of the teenage students and there is a class teacher and 4 other teaching assistants responsible for the other students in the class. At the school they have peripatetic support from a hearing specialist and a visual impairment specialist through the Specialist Teaching and Learning Service. They also have an onsite physiotherapist that will oversea the care plans for the pupils. The school is located within short walking distance from Worcester Foregate Street station and is very accessible by car.
Successful candidates will have a NVQ level 2/3 in childcare and education; they must also have experience working with students with PMLD needs. It is preferred that the candidate have at least 1 year experience in classrooms providing support for students with SEN needs. As there are some visual and hearing impairments a basic understanding of Makaton or BSL would be beneficial. The role may require some personal care so experience in this would be of benefit.
