Job Title: SEMH Support Worker
Axcis Education are working with a special school situated in Plymouth who are seeking to appoint a support worker to assist children on a 1-1 basis who have social and emotional mental health needs. This a full time role - working hours will be Monday - Friday, 8.30 - 3, term time only.
SEMH needs are a type of special educational need where a child communicates through behaviour in response to unmet social, emotional or mental health needs. Children with SEMH needs often have difficulties in managing their emotions or their behaviour. They can show inappropriate responses to their emotions. They can feel scared, anxious and misunderstood.
This special school caters for pupils aged 11 - 16 years of age. The school offers a nurturing and caring environment that allows all students to thrive and achieve their full potential. Particular importance is placed on recognising and rewarding individual achievements. The students are encouraged to participate in a wide range of activities that enrich their spiritual, moral, social and cultural development. This development is promoted by school trips, workshops, charitable work and PSHE lessons.
The school would ideally prefer candidates to have a full driving licence and access to their own vehicle with business insurance as you will be required to transport students to offsite activities on occasion, however they will consider strong applications without a driving licence or vehicle.
