Job Title: Primary Teacher – Pupil Referral Unit
Axcis are currently looking for a Primary school teacher to work in a pupil referral unit in Oldham working with KS2 aged children. This is a full time role covering a teacher who is due to go off for an operation. Due to which this will be an ongoing role until the school receives notification they will be returning. Many of the children show frequent challenging behaviour and have problems dealing with their emotions which attributes to angry outbursts. You will also be working with children who have complex needs who are awaiting placement at an appropriate setting due to their mainstream setting not able to provide the level of support they need. This is a great opportunity to work with children who are transitioning between schools, some of which may have been permanently excluded. As teacher it gives you the chance to cater to the child’s needs and help give them tools to help them once back in mainstream education. This pupil referral unit, specialises in been able to help children transition back into mainstream education. In order to do so the classes are small with a high staff to pupil ratio allowing for children to experience as much 1:1 support as possible. The curriculum is catered to the needs of the child which enables them to access learning at their own level reducing the chance of them becoming frustrated causing them to have a break down. The school is easily accessible with ample parking spaces and public transport is a 5 minute walk from the school. The school are looking for an experienced KS2 primary school teacher with QTS who is able to engage children and give them the passion to learn. You must have excellent behaviour management skills, team teach training will be given however it must be completed before the role begins. Experience of working in alternative provision would be beneficial however, the school is willing to work with the right candidate to transition form mainstream.
